Welcome. I’m Neil P.G. Hirsch, a Reform rabbi, writer, and photographer living in Western Massachusetts. I serve Hevreh, a synagogue in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, a hub of the Berkshires. You can learn more about me here.

As a congregational rabbi, my focus is on building community and connections in the contexts of Jewish ritual and learning. I am deeply interested in the spiritual journeys we all travel, and the many ways we use Shabbat, Jewish holidays, and daily practice to add meaning and sanctity to each day. I am also a doctoral candidate at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, studying halakhah (Jewish law) and ethics, focusing on how t’shuvah (repentance) operates. I am especially fascinated by how repentance connects with accountability. So while my interests are varied, lately my writing and teaching have been focused in this area.

I'm an avid photographer, and some of my images are here, too.

I am always eager to connect, so please reach out.
